The Mobility Cup is Canada's annual International Regatta for sailors with disabilities.

It is open to anyone with a significant disability – regardless of the severity of their disability or extent of sailing experience.

The 2006 event was held Sept. 11 – 15, in Vancouver, B.C.

Mobility Cup 2007 will be held Aug. 27-31 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Please click here for the Notice of Race 2007!

Mobility Cup 2006 was hosted by the Disabled Sailing Association of B.C. and the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club. It saw 42 sailors enjoying five days of racing on English Bay using the Martin 16.

It took an international significance with six countries represented: Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Hungary and England.
Racing was held in two classes, Gold Fleet and Silver Fleet, in the sheltered waters of English Bay. The only divisions were according to sailing experience.
There were coaching sessions for Silver Fleet participants, including classroom and on-the-water training, and practice sessions for all sailors prior to the actual racing.

The Mobility Cup was founded as Canada’s “regatta of possibility” in 1991, and given to the country under a deed of gift in 2001.

The Mobility Cup 2006 regatta followed the Able Sail Symposium, which was open to all sailors and adaptive sailing club organizers. This was held at Jericho Sailing Centre on Sunday, Sept. 10. Participants considered areas ranging from improving sailing techniques (basic sailing to race strategy) to forming a disabled sailing club. You did not have to race in the Mobility Cup in order to attend the Able Sail Symposium, but participants were able to obtain information that could help improve their performance.
