  Sailing in Halifax Harbour

Where
Sail Able Nova Scotia is located at the Dartmouth Yacht Club situated off Burnside Park on the Bedford Basin.

Both Bedford Basin and Halifax Harbour experience a wide range of weather and sea conditions; but sailors can rely on light to medium winds most days of the summer and fall.

Halifax Harbour and Waterfront
Halifax Harbour offers some wonderful opportunities for day tripping in small craft. There are many sites to see from downtown Halifax and Dartmouth, to the Northwets Arm, George's Island and even the Bedford Basin for those wishing to have a full day of sailing.Courtesy Google Maps

The Free Spirit will be re-locating to the Dartmouth Yacht Club with the start of the 2007 season. They have not only agreed to host Sail Able but also to co-host Mobility Cup 2007 with us. This is an exciting new chapter for Sail Able and we couldn’t be more pleased to begin it. DYC is located at 697 Windmill Rd, Dartmouth in the Burnside Industrial Park. With direct access to historic Bedford Basin and the vast open water it presents a new perspective for our sailors. Downtown Halifax is still certainly within sailing distance from DYC for those that wish to see the sights.

Weather
Sail Able restricts sailing on the Freedom Independance in winds greater than 25 km/h (13.5 knots) for safety of participants and the boat. Up to date weather conditions and marine forecasts can be found on the Government of Canada's Marine Forecast for Halifax Harbour web site.
