The Ridge Camp and Conference Center

The Ridge and Conference CenterThe Ridge Camp & Conference Centre is southwestern Manitoba's newest camp & conference centre located beside beautiful Pelican Lake. The former TB Sanitorium which was once a place for physical healing will again become a place where people can come to be renewed & refreshed socially, mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Trails through the surrounding hills and ravines have been cut and groomed and many individuals have already enjoyed peaceful walks through the trees. Wildlife fill the area; deer, moose, squirrels, raccoons, and many kinds of birds are some of the scenes you can expect to experience as you leisurely walk through on the trails.

The Ridge and Conference CenterFor the more adventurous, take the more challenging course by mountain bike. Our goal is to host an annual mountain bike competition right here at the Ridge. BMX can off road as well and will not be disappointed with the challenge of the hills and valleys. Skateboarders can enjoy the many ramps to perfect their art or just sit back between tricks.

You can also book time on the climbing wall which enables climbers to climb year round, outside in the warm weather or inside during cold months. Our climbing wall which is being constructed early in 2004 will be 40 feet in height and be the tallest in the province.

Winter activities include broomball, tube slide or ice skating on the lake. Fishing is always a hit both summer and winter, ice fishing is a unique experience if you have never had the opportunity.

Each July & August we fill most of our occupancies with campers coming for the Extreme Sports Camps for teenagers. Campers aged 12-17 will enjoy skateboarding, wall-climbing, mountain bikes, BMX, kayaking, wind surfing & beach volley-ball to name few activities.

The retreat centre is open from Sept. to June and we will soon be able to house 210 individuals at one time. Our games room features pool tables, ping pong table, darts and shuffle board year round. Our bedrooms have 2-5 bunk beds in them & each one has one double bed. Weekend crowds include: youth groups, ladies/men's groups, couples and business groups. Weekday crowds include: school bands for music camps, school classes can book times for outdoor education, seniors groups, pastor's retreats and business meetings and people who love to sail.

Churches, families & business groups will also find The Ridge a great facility to host their special events. By August 2004 our plans are to be wheelchair accessible complete with an elevator to the third floor. We look forward to housing those with disabilities and those who experience limited mobility. This is a place you can come relax and enjoy the company of good friends. We invite you to come and let us help you create some refreshing memories.

The Ridge Camp and Conference Centre is an alcohol/chemical-free environment. The Ridge is a division of Youth for Christ/ Inc. For booking information call Shirley @ 528-2668
